Davidson Art Gallery Crawl 2013

Sorry I have been slacking, it's been a crazy week!

With that being said, let me show you what I have been busy doing!

The hotel I work at, Homewood Suites by Hilton-Davidson participated in April is for Arts Gallery Crawl for the Town of Davidson. We hosted one of the Gallery Crawl stops. With 8 featured artists, 3 wineries, amazing toffee from the Toffee Shoppe, and empanadas, there was a lot of work to prep for the event.

The hotel is also undergoing construction, as we prepare for a full-service bar! So needless to say, it was an interesting floor lay-out, getting all of these fabulous artists in the best possible position.

So take a look at what a great event this was. If you want to know more about hosting an event in our Lodge area, let me know! It is a fabulously decorated space!

I'm Back!!! With more delicious cakes!

Hey!! Had a pretty rough week last week, but I'm back and ready to go!

So we last left off with the awesome Wedding Cake, which usually follows the theme and decor of the reception. But now we are going to take a step back and really focus on the groom.

Groom's cake is a tradition mostly associated with the Southeastern United States. It can either be displayed on a separate table at the reception, or more frequently served as the dessert for the rehearsal dinner. Traditional groom's cakes are dark, usually chocolate and includes fruit. A more fun and creative trend it to design the groom's cake to reflect the interests and hobbies of the groom, because after all...he is just as important as the bride on that big day.

Ok I'm partial to these two... would be perfect for my little brother one day! Semper Fi

Everyone knows how important the Wedding  Cake can be. It is the centerpiece of the whole reception. It ties the decor and theme together. There are so many creative cake ideas, from a traditional 4 tier, to a cupcake cake.

Gone Country...Look at them boots

Ok, so this post comes with a funny explanation....

So this past Friday I went to a Horse Auction with my in-laws. I know I know...who does that?!  But it was actually pretty cool to see all of the different horses and how elegant and graceful they were. Well... that got me thinking about country themed weddings and just how simple they are, but how elegant and graceful they can be if done just right. So go ahead and take a look at these ideas....

OH MY....ABSOLUTE CUTENESS!!!

Love the draping

And They Lived Happily Ever After

There are so many ways to send the newlyweds off. Everyone knows the usuals...rice, sparklers...but take a look at these.

Feathers

Silly String...

If you are having an outdoor wedding, how about something Eco-Friendly like bird seed?

Maybe paper airplanes. Better yet, have each guest write a note to the newly married couple on the paper airplane before throwing. When the couple returns from their honeymoon they can read the notes of love :)

Ballons. Ask each guest to blow up a balloon

If the bride and groom are sports fanatics, why not wave pennants?!

Whatever you choose just make sure to let the bride and groom know that you love them and to do nothing but enjoy the days and years to come :)
